30 Jan Your January IT Check-In – Smart Tools, Secure Starts
Happy New Year! Hopefully, this isn’t too late to say it… January has a habit of disappearing in the blink of an eye, and before you know it, you’re already well into the year.
As things start to settle after the festive break, now’s a good moment to pause, take stock, and make sure your IT is set up properly for the months ahead. Here’s a quick January check-in from us at Transpeed.
🚀 Quick Tips for January
Test Your Backups: Ransomware is rising across the UK. Don’t just back up, test a data restore today to ensure your “safety net” actually works.
Audit “Ghost” Users: New year, new list. Deactivate accounts for any staff who left in December to close easy backdoors for hackers.
Set AI Guardrails: With AI agents now mainstream, remind your team never to upload sensitive client data or company financials to public AI tools.

Do You Really Need Calendly?
We’re sometimes asked by Microsoft 365 clients to relax security settings so that Calendly can work. Our response is usually a simple one: why?
If you’re already using Microsoft 365, you have a better option built in with Microsoft Bookings:
https://outlook.office.com/bookings
It’s free, already included in your M365 subscription, and works seamlessly with Outlook — without weakening your security.
Microsoft Bookings creates a simple booking webpage where people can schedule time with you. It checks your diary to see when you’re free and only offers available slots that you control. You can set appointment types, descriptions, buffer time between meetings, and automatic confirmation or follow-up emails.
In short, it does everything most people use Calendly for, so give it a go.
